Bass has a long and colorful history. So colorful, in fact, that the legends surrounding the ale are often dismissed as false despite being 100% true. For example, Picasso painted the Bass bottle some 30 times, and famed explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton included Bass among his essential provisions. For these and other reasons, Bass loyalists can be quite passionate about their ale.
